Housing Development
Despite pandemic challenges, this was a banner year for the HACMB in its efforts to carry out new initiatives to design and build quality affordable housing in Miami Beach. Three applications were submitted to the CMB Building Department for new construction permits for affordable housing developments: Eleven44to provide 22 units, the Heron to provide 20 units, and Vista Breeze to provide 119 units.
Housing Choice Vouchers
The HACMB operates a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program with a baseline of 3,642 vouchers. In addition, the HACMB operates a HUD-VASH Program which provides 376 vouchers to veterans. The HACMB, in partnership with the Miami-Dade Homeless Trust, established a new Mainstream Voucher program providing 75 vouchers and a new Emergency Housing Voucher program providing 88 vouchers to families impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Affordable Housing
The HACMB owns and operates seven properties throughout Miami Beach providing a total of 277 housing units.
Rebecca Towers North - Section 8 New Construction - Elderly Designated
Rebecca Towers North is a thirteen-story elderly designated Section 8 New Construction building constructed in 1979 with 200 units (120 efficiencies and 80 one-bedrooms). Under this program, U.S. HUD provides rental subsidies to tenants 62 years of age or older who are income eligible.
Rebecca Towers South - Public Housing - Elderly Designated
Rebecca Towers South is a thirteen-story elderly designated Public Housing building constructed in 1975 with 200units(120 efficiencies, 72 one-bedrooms, and 8 two-bedrooms). Under this program, U.S. HUD provides rental subsidies to tenants 62 years of age or older who are income eligible.
Social Services Overview
Social Services Department is the bridge that connects the residents with community support, services, and resources to enhance the resident’s quality of life. The goal of the department is to avoid premature nursing home placement and unnecessary moveouts at Rebecca Towers. In addition to ongoing Case Management and a Referral System, the department is also responsible for creating, maintaining and supervising activities that promote healthy living.
